Bach’s Coffee Cantata & Fauré Requiem

Don’t miss this special coffee themed event — an afternoon of coffee, cakes, and wine, Bach’s rarely performed miniature comic opera, and Fauré’s Requiem.

Featuring Isabelle and James Atkinson (Royal College of Music), Adam Maxey, and the Salisbury Chamber Chorus; conducted by Lynton Atkinson.

Afternoon programme:

3.45pm coffee and cake served in church hall.

4.30pm “Coffee Cantata” performance in the church with soloists (Isabelle and James) with a professional ensemble including: Sam Hanson: harpsichord, Jennifer Curiel: violin, Andrew Foot: violin, Alison Kay: viola, Judith Bergin: cello, David Kenihan: double bass.

5pm glass of wine or soft drink ( Donations gratefully received)

5.30pm Faure’s Requiem soloists include Adam Maxey and Charles Wheelan, with Salisbury chamber chorus, young and older local singers join for the occasion, & Broadstone Music Series chamber orchestra.

Oh what a night our performance turned out to be.  We knew it would be good, but it just blossomed into something quite amazing. We had some fantastic feedback from the audience and our young soloists were wonderful and they had a great experience working with Lynton Atkinson.  Here are some pictures (thank you Nigel Apperley) from the evening.   If you came along, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

INVITATION FOR YOU TO SING IN THE MASTERPIECE OPERA, MOZART’S THE MAGIC FLUTE

We are very excited to announce this performance of the masterpiece opera, The Magic Flute, as part of the 2015 Broadstone Music Series. Conducted by Lynton Atkinson with a new generation young soloists taking the lead roles and orchestra.  A community chorus will also be formed, it will be sung in English. The performance will take place at St Nicholas Church, Corfe Mullen, Dorset  at 7pm on 11th April 2015.

If you would like to be part of this chorus please get in touch with Helen Tate by email: helenbythesea@hotmail.com for an online link to the parts and more information.  Coaching will take place at the Church at 5pm on the day with Jean Holt, followed by a short break, and performance at 7pm.  Cost to take part in the chorus to cover costs: £5
