Polly Bartlett

polly-photoPolly began playing the recorder when she was 6 years old and at the age of 11 was awarded the Trinity College London Exhibition Award after achieving the highest grade eight distinction in the UK for any instrument throughout 2009.

In 2011 she was a winner in The Two Moor’s Festival Young Musicians Platform competition, run in association with Classic FM, and in 2012 achieved her ATCL diploma with distinction aged just 14. She has recently reached the Woodwind Final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2016 and her solo recital was broadcast on BBC 4 television and BBC radio 3 in April this year.

As well as playing the recorder Polly is a very keen oboist, achieving her grade eight (also with distinction) at the age of 12. She was principal oboe of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain for 3 years and spent two years as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain which took her to many of the UK’s most prestigious concert venues and included numerous broadcasts on BBC radio and television. She was also principal oboe with the local Wessex Youth Orchestra.

In addition to her concerts across the country Polly gives numerous recitals in the local area and is a regular guest on BBC Radio Solent’s Julian Clegg’s Breakfast Show in which the station and their listeners follow Polly’s progress and musical career. Polly is in her first year of oboe studies studies at the RCM with Oliver Stankiewicz.
