Paul Colman is a pianist, violist and conductor. Until 2016, he was Director of Music at Corfe Hills School, where he was Musical Director and Producer for the school’s highly successful shows, staged at Lighthouse, Poole. Prior to this he was director of Music at the prestigious St George’s College in Harare, where he founded the critically acclaimed chamber choir, Tabatana. In 1998 he was appointed Classical Music Consultant and Co-ordinator for the Harare International Festival of Arts (HIFA) and conducted the Main Stage production at the inaugural festival in 1999. He returned to conduct at HIFA in 2000, 2012 and 2014 and will return again next year to adjudicate at the country’s annual Eisteddfod competition.
Throughout his career he has accompanied singers and instrumentalists for concerts, recitals and competitions as well as touring Southern Africa with some of the region’s most prominent musicians. Additionally, Paul is an experienced and committed viola player, having studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at Trinity College of Music.
