Christmas Celebration –  A Box of Delights

 Monday, December 20^th at 7pm at St Peter’s Church, Parkstone,  BH14 ONN
Audience is welcome from 6.30pm
Pre concert performances by younger musicians will begin at 6.50pm

With Christmas fast approaching, we’ve been working on how to present the best and safest concert for you to enjoy and especially how to give our very keen senior young musicians the best opportunity to perform and to showcase their continued hard work. 2021 has seen an array of musical enrichment with our Aspiration through Inspiration series of solo and chamber masterclass days as well as a summer school at Lytchett Minster school for 95 young local classical musicians, supported by our Hub partner SoundStorm.

To this end, we have put together a seasonal concert of chamber music with a variety of small and extremely talented groups of young musicians featuring strings, wind, voice and piano including some popular classics. They will perform music from the Baroque and Classical periods as well as more modern Christmas favourites. Telemann, Beethoven and Handel will feature along with other well-known music seasoned with a few jolly readings. They will be joined by local professional musicians in Poole Society for Young Musicians Camerata who will accompany concerto movements.

In the light of the current circumstances, we ask that social distancing be respected and that masks be worn throughout the evening (except when consuming refreshments). Seats will be laid out accordingly.

Although many aspects of life seem to be returning to a kind of “normal”, we still want to exercise caution in our approach to live music. It is for this reason that we have chosen St Peter’s Church in Parkstone as our venue. It is a very large space with a high roof and can accommodate a large audience with discretionary social distancing. The Church has a lovely atmosphere at Christmas and this should be a beautiful concert. We hope very much that you will join us to celebrate our young musicians at this special time of year. There will be a short interval with mulled wine, optional soft drink and mince pies or Christmas biscuits.
